ANDROID SOUL BREAKBEAT vs DEADLY DUB
"A man whose trademark basslines and sweet musical touches have been instrumental in shaping the sound that has become known as U.K Garage."
"Alongside artists like EL-B, Wookie and Stanton Warriors, Dave is continuing garage's trajectory not as fast R'n'B but as the spiritual heir to jungle."
"His music takes the hair-raising thrills that drum'n'bass and nu skool once offered and squeezes them into a two-step template. It's soulful without being syrupy ; impishly hooky but still a thousand rewinds removed from the proliferating theme tune mania that characterises uk garage's poppier product."
"Zed Bias is 2-step's master of bass, and 'Neighbourhood' is possibly the most compelling expression of his low-frequency fetish yet.”
"It (Neighbourhood) resonates with the life of the city, seeming to somehow encapsulate the essence of all those multifold basslines which so mysteriously flavour one's experience of urban space."
"UK garage's unrivalled low-end technologist"

"UK garage heavyweight, pioneer of the darker 2 step sound, founding father of the Dubstep movement and one of the most exciting and diverse underground producers, Zed has been a pioneer of UK Garage, Breakstep and the darker sound of Dubstep since day one, both as artist and producer." (TEKNOSCAPE)
'The turning point for Zed Bias came on hearing Dem 2's epochal Destiny in '98. Released in February '98, as Sleepless on Dem 2’s “Boston Experiments” EP on the New York Soundclash imprint (later reissued on Locked On), Destiny’s android soul breakbeat changed garage overnight. ‘What a track,’ Jones says ‘It brought to mind the possibilities of breakbeat. Destiny, for me is like a proper hiphop pattern but halftime. Those little synth sweeps just amazed me, how something so unpercussive could be such an integral part of a groove.’ (BEYONDJAZZ)
Ο Zed Bias είναι ίσως ο πιο επιτυχημένος και ταυτόχρονα ο πιο παραγωγικός από τους πρωτεργάτες της 2-Step Garage σκηνής. Με θρυλικά mixtapes ("Sound of the Pirates", 2000) αλλά και ηχογραφώντας μια σειρά από ολοκληρωμένα album, με το όνομά του ("Experiments with Bisonics Vol.1, 2007), ως Phuturistix ("Feel It Out", 2003 και "Breathe Some Light", 2007) και Maddslinky ("Make your Peace", 2003), προτείνει μια σύγχρονη σύνθεση απολαυστικής soul-jazz, πάνω σ' ένα παιδεμένο, διανοητικά περίπλοκο broken-beat, το οποίο δένεται βίαια με το χαρακτηριστικά βρετανικό, ωμό μπάσο της dub υποκουλτούρας.
